I love to ski. And the better I get, the more I love it. Learning has to feel the same way. Whether it's your very first turn or you're hucking cliffs and finding hidden lines through the trees, I'll help you find runs you didn't know you could ski, and have more fun doing it. What I love most about teaching is passing on the love of the mountains, respect for the snow, and a great day you'll remember.
Every lesson starts with understanding where you are and what you want. I watch you ski, we talk about what's working, then we build a plan together so you're part of the process. Knowing what we're changing and why it matters is as important as the change itself.
Throughout the lesson, I ask questions and offer suggestions instead of giving orders. Self discovery is how new movements actually stick. You'll leave with a specific cue to remember and practice on your own, written on the back of my card so you don't forget it.
I'm also a Carv ambassador. I bring the Carv sensors, we attach them to your boots, and they score your skiing turn by turn. We can chase a higher score like a video game, and that part is genuinely fun. But diving into the data can be overwhelming, sometimes even for me. What I bring is data translation: turning a number you don't quite understand into one specific movement change you can feel. Better score, better skiing, without needing to become a Carv expert yourself.
Winter Park has been home for the last several years, though I've been teaching skiing much longer. I hold full PSIA alpine certification with children's specialist and freestyle credentials, and I train other instructors, the ones you may have had lessons from before. I have instructing access to Vail and Alterra resorts across Colorado, and their broader networks nationwide.
